QUINTEN Contemplates “Settling Down” on Bouncy Summer Track

QUINTEN (stylized as QU/NTEN), in a nutshell, is Drake without as much of that recent “IMMA SUPAHSTARRRR” vibe. That sounds pejorative, given the beef(s) that’ve occurred over the last 7ish months. However, trust me when I say “I mean that in the best way possible.” Why? Simply put, if you miss playfully melodic Drake and braggy-but-centered Drake, you’ll love this one. Heck, you may find your new favorite artist through this one, the aptly-titled “Settling Down” featuring Airplane Jones.

But the melodic centered nature is where the Drake comparisons end.

What makes “Settling Down” different and unique is that it’s a West Coast summertime vibe that’s very bouncy. Flow-wise, there’s an E-40-like vibe to the deliveries. This is deliberate, I believe, because it helps make things stand out against similar songs. Plus, that sort of flow is way harder than it sounds like. Lyrically, “Down” details how Q celebrates his wins, meets himself a fly lady and enjoys life to its fullest potential. Overall, though? This is good music to ride out to, cook out to, and hang out to. If you need positive hip-hop energies that make it feel like mid-July in California, I recommend checking this song out.

After listening to “Settling Down,” I decided to check out the song’s parent project, City Superstar 2. The overall vibe gives that 2000-2005/2006 party rap sound while also still being quite lyrical. I won’t give much away (because I want you to experience it with few preconceived notions about it), but it’s a dope project. Check out “Settling Down” below and, if you like it, support dope music in all its forms by peeping Q’s City Superstar 2–even if it’s only because the cover reminds you of an early-2000s EA Sports game.
