The song “Cancer Circle” is a part of Wildcard’s The Zodiac Project. Throughout the song, and its parent project, we’re given a helluva song. We get glimpses both at Wildcard’s hip-hop appreciation and heritage in storytelling–and a project that personifies each Zodiac sign as a different scenario. Yes, we’ve had songs and concept projects like that before. However, they’re always welcome on SOTB, because I’m a sucker for concept albums. Wildcard’s, though, is split up by each sign has its own single. On top of this, the song and its visuals are both done well and aren’t completely on the nose like this could’ve gone.

In “Cancer Circle,” we see Wildcard and a woman fighting against their demons. Without giving too much away about the twist(s), I’ll say this. Your expectations may be shattered. I absolutely love the cinematic feel of the lyrics and the visuals. I also appreciate featured artist BARZ!’s approach to his verse, as it adds another dimension to the overarching story. If you need more storytelling hip-hop with a purpose, I recommend checking this one out and supporting dope music in all its forms, such as The Zodiac Project. My favorite, and I’m biased, is “Leo Lounge” featuring C-Lance and Apathy. But I loved “Cancer Circle” as well.
