Amp Melo Thinks About “Better Days” with The Grouch and Chubby Wallets

When Amp Melo drops, I make sure I give his cuts time to marinated in my head, both as a fan of his work and as a writer. Amp’s music is never the type of rap that you can listen to once and completely absorb everything. Instead, you’ve got to sit with his tracks and knowledge to fully comprehend the mentality and the message.

The former Amplified. has been on a tear these last few months. With his reinvention and constant stream of incredible music, he’s become one of my favorite SOTB-featured artists. On “Better Days,” Amp links with a literal Living Legend. On this one, we hear Amp and The Grouch (of the legendary Living Legends collective) give us a lot of nostalgia while also looking forward to the future. Also featuring HUGE contributions from Chubby Wallets, “Better Days” is all of the good things. The Cali natives give us a song where everything’s laid out there and laid bare for listeners to dive into. Sonically, it’s a bop, the beat is incredible, the bars are relatable as well as specific, and the flows are smoother than butter. Overall, this is a song you need if you’re wondering how to push forward when halcyon days are a bit more behind–or ahead–that you’d like.
