Thought Provokah Provides Positive Motivation on “I’m Going”

Sometimes, finding your stride can be a bit of an issue. Heck, look at me. I have every intention of being more active on the SOTB writing side of things. However, life be lifing. As it lifes, I end up having to put things on the backburner for a few weeks at a time. While it’s healthy for my mental for these continued breaks, it can lead to readers missing out on new music. So, I’m sorry. Please know, though, that I’m built different than most writers (especially since I make my own music). I just want to make sure that I’m giving you all the best that I’ve got.

Now that that’s out the way, let’s get into “I’m Going,” the latest track from rhymesmith Thought Provokah. The powerful boombap-esque track relates to my own struggles in many ways. Specifically, Thought’s “keep pushing” mindset applies to what I want to do as SOTB. Plus, the song itself is a bop–from the beat down to the wordplay. What makes this one “powerful” is that it damn near forces you to take inventory of what you want out of life, how you want to carry it and what you need to do to carry it to the next level. You don’t get anywhere without a plan and confidence in that plan. Over jazzy melodies, Thought drops a track for those who may need that extra confidence boost. Flow-wise, he has a Nas-like calmness to his words with a dash of Q-Tip’s playful precision. And like Nas and Q-Tip, he also fits a plethora of knowledge and positivity within the song. You’re learning versus just vibing, and I appreciate that a lot.

But enough of me, listen to “I’m Going.” If you’re feeling it, I recommend checking out the rest of Thought’s discography and to always remember to support dope music in all its forms.
