Grabba Goes “BACK2BACK” in New-To-SOTB Music

It’s fitting that Grabba is the first artist I cover after returning. That’s because he was the last artist I covered before my 2024 sabbatical. Another cut from 2024 Voodoo project, “BACK2BACK” continues the same energy we got when the album first dropped.

The track, coming in at just under two minutes, is a bouncy jazz-rap-like song that features the artist working with the beat in that Earl Sweatshirt-meets-Lil B energy I mentioned back in August. The flow is chill and laidback, almost stream-of-consciousness in its approach. With some tracks, that may deter you. Stream-of-consciousness freeverses aren’t for everyone. But this one works, at least for me.

“B2B” works specifically because where Grabba shines is his wordplay and his rhyme schemes. The brother can rap, plain and simple. Plus, the laidback flow allows listeners to absorb more of how he plays with his bars. I mean, he got me to bend my “rule” about short songs. Hell, because of tracks like this, I’m abolishing that rule. So, if you get a post from me on a track that is only a verse, you have people like GRABBA to thank.

Enough of me, though.
