“We gonna make it.”
Those four words aren’t just the title of one of my favorite Jada song. No, they’re, at least for me, words to live by. Even if things look bleak, there’s almost always a tomorrow or a way back out of the hole. On “Fly,” New York-based artist Alona speaks about this very thing.
Today seems to be my actual lucky day today with all the uplifting boombap I’ve received in my submissions. “Fly” is no different. Here, we have Alona speaking on what makes him unique, while also not lording it over anyone. Instead, he offers a solution by wishing to elevate everyone around him. That sort of positive message is one that’s needed in these crazy-ass times we live in. But for every Tesla commercial shot with the President, there’s a group of people who are willing to keep pushing against both the status quo and antiquated social norms. I mean, you can’t be true to yourself if you’re out here acting like someone (or everyone) else.
If you need a shot in the arm to tell you to keep pushing, even if some don’t think you should, this one’s for you. I’d like to see where this track takes this distinguished gentleman. So, if you’re like me and you like positives on a Friday, check this one out below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
After all, we gonna make it.
