Dylan Owen Wants to Always “Ride By Your Side”

Losing someone close to you–or getting close to losing someone close–changes you. It makes you more thankful of the days you have, the days you had, and life itself. Saying that today has double weight, as you all know. But life is fragile and can be gone at any moment.

On “Ride By Your Side,” Dylan Owen recounts the day he was in a three-car collision in LA. It’s a hauntingly beautiful track, one that puts you right in the car with Dylan. Over a up-pitched vocal sample, the rapper weaves a story of fear of loss, but also appreciation for still being here. When it comes to today, it feels like something I would’ve played around my mom’s passing to help me come to terms with things. That’s, honestly, some of the biggest praise I can give a track. This song will appear on Dylan’s DO mixtape which is dropping soon. I’m intrigued to see where he goes with it, as Dylan’s always been a pretty introspective guy.
