SLYME Asks You to “remember”

I tend to avoid melodic rap on the site. It’s not because I don’t appreciate it, it’s more that it doesn’t always fit the SOTB aesthetic. Well, with this new era, I’m being a bit more open. Don’t expect me to write anything like “Future’s Top Ten Toxic Anthems” or anything. But, I’m willing to bend. I say that because the below song from artist SLYME is firmly planted in the ground of melodic rap.

What I like about this one is its use of harmonies. Sure, the song itself is about SLYME finding a bad jawn and enjoying her company while getting lit, which may or may not include syrup. But the way that SLYME floats on the beat and uses all parts of it, including his own voice, to make music? That’s damned impressive. Now, SOTB.com doesn’t promote hard drug use, and hasn’t since…well, ever. However, every once in a while, a song just sounds so damn good that you forget to feel your face. I’m here for this one, even if it’s a bit outside of what I typically post on SOTB.

Check it out above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
