SNACKTIME Speaks on the “SUNSHINE” of Love

God knows we need The Sun. I mean, seasonal affective disorder is a thing. We need the sunlight because it’s warm, it’s invigorating, and it just feels good. However, too much of the sun can leave you dazed and confused, but still want to be around it. In other words, my love of the sun is like the love people can share with others or even themselves.

In this instance on the song “SUNSHINE,” Philly-based band SNACKTIME focuses more on that interpersonal romantic love and its multiple components. Sonically, the song reminds me of a blend between 2005-2008 Gym Class Heroes and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. Lyrically, the song takes listeners on a journey through the entirety of the like-to-love cycle. From that initial infatuation to standing side-by-side with your partner, everything’s here. I also appreciate the layered vocals as well as the live instrumentation, as they help a rich song sound that much more so. I also like the use of old-school cartoons to help bring the point home. In this era of singularity and solo acts, there’s still a big space for bands and this group proves that like some of the greats. Check out the track above and support dope music in all its forms.
