New SOTBMusic: @BigSean – "Halfway Off The Balcony"

So, about twelve hours ago, Big Sean dropped a new I Decided track, “Halfway Off The Balcony.” The multilayered track, for me, has several possible outlooks. First, there’s a possible look into a contemplation of suicide. Then, there’s an analysis of ways to remove oneself from crazy situations. Finally, and possibly most accurately, there’s a story about the evolution of Sean (and the evolution of his stressors).

Either way, the song shows Sean in a place where we often don’t see him: vulnerable as hell. Yes, even within the track’s braggy raps, Sean still lets us into his mind for a song that, with the chilling but laid-back sample choice and its use of melody, makes me more excited for I Decided than “Bounce Back” did (and that’s saying something). Check out “Balcony” below and be on the lookout for I Decided soon.
