I’m a sucker for boombap, you know. That’s not to say that everything that sounds like Dilla or Nas I’m automatically on. You’ve still got to have some bars and substance and the like. However, I love to hear the vibes from these types of songs. That said, I couldn’t help but nod along and vibe with FTO artist Mike L!VE’s “My Mentality.” It’s everything you’d expect from a breezy boombap track, even down to the effortless flows. But what really got me going was the Brady Bunch-esque encapsulation of what it means to get into Mike’s head. He’s diverse and it shows through the music and through this video.
