Cliff Savage is Looking for a Quarterback on New Track

Cali-based artist Cliff Savage recently dropped a new track and his team sent it my way. From the jump, I said “hey, this is pretty awesome.” Now that the introductions’re out the way, let’s talk about “Quarterback.”

“Quarterback” reminds me of a mix between Big Sean (circa “Ass”) and Kendrick Lamar. He’s lyrically solid, but the track is clearly for the twerkers and booty-shakers of the world. That’s not a bad thing, as the song is a good one. Powered by a bass-heavy beat, Savage masterfully crafts a comparison between the Lamar Jacksons and Tom Bradys of the world and how he engineers a booty comeback. It’s a simple enough subject. However, the track is one that made me pay attention due to the playful nature of Savage’s lyrics. He can flow well, but there’s also a bit of a tongue-in-cheek element to the bars he spits here.

Check out “Quarterback” above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
