Above, we’ve got the newest track from North Carolina-by-way-of-Fort-Hood artist Bar$. Bar$’ story has a bit of a roundabout way to it. He started as a classically trained jazz-centric artist, dabbled in hip-hop throughout adolescence, became a producer then a keyboard player until he came out of retirement as a rapper just last year. You’d think that the long layoff would’ve dulled his lyrical acumen. Nope, not at all. “Run Away” is smooth, solid and so much fun to listen to (because it knows that it’s a song for pushing greatness along versus not knowing what it’s good for). Why I say this one channels both Mac and Spitta is that his flow is laidback a bit, but it’s poignant and cuts through the smooth beat to deliver some life lessons. All in all, it’s a good one to add to your playlists. Check out “Run Away” above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
