Rel McCoy and Newselph Present “On Anotha”

Flutes and rap music go hand in hand to the point it’s like “why don’t we get more flute-heavy beats?” I don’t have the answer to that, but I do know one thing: Rel McCoy and Newselph’s “On Anotha (Remix)” takes that formula and runs with it. Heck, it adds in rap pianos and hard-hitting but laidback lyrics and creates a helluva track.

McCoy is the rapper while Newselph handles the production, kind of like a classic 1-2 punch (think a more boombappy Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff or a modern-day Pete Rock & CL Smooth). I love producer/rapper duos (especially since what’s now known as DAR Elite restarted with True and Apollo rapping over my beats), so I’ll always have a soft spot for good collaborative efforts. “On Anotha” is definitely a great collaborative effort, one that keeps your head nodding as much as it’ll keep you in a “we’ve got to reach our dreams” sort of trance.
