Portland’s Pricy Raps About the Finer Things on “Flamingos”

On a beat that, for me, recalls memories of riding through Baltimore in the early-2010s listening to Curren$y and KRIT, Portland rapper Pricy enjoys lavishness–as well as a bit of a laidback vibe. I love the production (which he produced), but the lyrics are also top-notch. I like the visuals as well, as they feature the rapper/clothing designer blending funky soul cuts with a flow that allows his lyrics to wash over you. The visuals also allow you to get a view into who Pricy is as an artist and a Portlander. You’ve got to love DIY and underground hip-hop, because, when done right, it has elements that you can’t get in mainstream hip-hop.
