In a word, The Rhetorician’s lyrics and style are eccentric. For instance, “The Descendant of Zack Taylor Episode 2” finds the rhymesmith playing a distant relative of the OG Black Ranger, traversing through time, space and nerdy references with his cathorse Mr. Tim in a quest to find a magical hammer. It’s a trippy ride, one that takes viewers on a ride through a fanfiction brought to life.
What makes this one also stand out is that it’s also pretty damned lyrical. I mean, the rapper could’ve just grabbed people with the references. He didn’t have to get on his lyrical tip. Thankfully, for me (and you), he does and does so well. You become invested in everything that The Rhetorician’s going through in the track/mini-movie. If you’re up for some eclectic hip-hop with a lot of 90s references which, when put together, sounds like something you’d get from a mix of MF Doom and Charles Hamilton, I recommend this one wholeheartedly. Check the visuals out below, give its parent EP a listen and support dope music in all its forms.
