TYLERR Confronts Demons and Humanity on “STRANGE?”

There’s really nothing I can speak on about this song without giving away some of the lyricism, subject matter or the schemes employed on the rhyming tip. But I’ll try. “STRANGE?,” which features on TYLERR’s NEVERMIND album, is a conscious hip-hop song that speaks on a lot. Like, a lot.

Between battling one’s own demons to dealing with what it means to be human (and what it means to err like a human), TYLERR approaches heavy subjects with a relaxed-but-still-emotional flow over the sampled beat. It plays in direct contrast to songs off the album like “COMPANY,” more so because it acknowledges that he could be fine by himself. That is, even if he does still like human interaction. Additionally, even though humanity is flawed, he does still see the good within it, so the project doesn’t come off jaded, more so observational and confessional than anything.

The album itself is a pretty solid deep-dive into who TYLERR is as an artist and human. I feel like I know him a bit better now that I’ve heard this project. Hopefully, you’ll give this one a listen and support dope music in all its forms.
