Moorea Masa and The Mood Present “Joyful”

What is happiness? For starters, it’s a thing that you find within before you find it elsewhere. It’s also something that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy all over. Moorea Masa and The Mood’s “Joyful” explores being within the positive, not the negative. Why? Well, why not? We need more positivity in the world, we need to be able to actually enjoy the things that bring us joy (without a bunch of doubt, fear and such) and we all, most importantly, deserve to have joy and positive vibes and less-stress.

I absolutely love the vocals Masa presents on this song. They help bring the lyrics to life, especially because they’re very bright but also quite powerful. They have a sort of familiar feel to them, as if she’s one of your homegirls just giving her two cents about how to win at life. The breezy instrumentation also lends to this feeling, as the song sounds like something you’d get from Jill Scott or Lauryn Hill.

This song is the perfect “let’s seize the day and be awesome” sort of song, especially because of its lyrics. It’s a song that says “hey, I’m living in the sun. No one–and I mean no one–is going to rain on me” with its lyrics. It also plays like a mantra for those who may be struggling to find their own inner peace and joy. This song is slated to appear on Moorea’s upcoming full-length album When the Summer Calls. If it’s anything like this, you’re going to get a lot of positive. Considering that Masa has seen a bit of darkness and both sides of the coin, she absolutely deserves her joy. And so do you.
