Letterkenny is one of the best shows to come out of the last five-plus years. The Canadian-born series is like King of the Hill had a baby with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and raised said child in rural Canada. I absolutely love Letterkenny references–even the ones allegedly made by a certain “No-Fi King.”
Enter Soma79, Wordplay da Flyest MC and Copywrite with their latest track, “Wheel Snipe Celly.” Referencing a catchphrase from fictional hockey players Riley and Jonesy, “WSC” finds the rap trio (and one producer) celebrating wins and keeping that “I am HIM” energy throughout. It also finds the four telling the world to get its thumb out its you-know-what and sort itself out, simply because people need to get off the cross. Wood’s expensive, after all.
The track kicks into high gear from Jump Street and we’re given a nice look into the life of “technically-proficient writers [who hurl] insults as an artform.” The song also looks at the idea of the “progressive hick” having a donnybrook with people who don’t understand the simpler things. If you want witty, Letterkenny-centric lyrics with some thump in the trunk, you could do a helluva lot worse than this amazing song.
Get these men some Puppers and support dope music in all its forms. After all, they’re doing something they love (kind of like how these Letterkenny references flow from me like water).
