James Gardin “Put the Team” on His Back in Latest

Sometimes, you just want a damn pancake. No, I’m not hungry nor am I a Pancake Boy. What I mean is sometimes you need to get into the middle of things and remember that you are HIM/HER/THEM. That, like pancakes, requires a recipe for success and an ability to stay calm under pressure. This is the basis for the “sonic representation of a halftime coach speech” we got above from James Gardin.

“I Put the Team on My Back” is the equivalent of remembering that you have a devil to keep off you and, well, doing so in extravagant fashion. Sonically, James reminds me of a mix between Chance and Wiz Khalifa. It’s a bit ironic that this works so well here. I say that as my first experience with Gardin was a song too much like “Say Yeah”-era Wiz. Thankfully, James here didn’t let that discourage him from sending me music. Because of that, I get to share this inspirational bop with you all.
