Olumide Presents “Peace of Mind”

Be my peace, not a piece of crap. Be my rock, not the reason I’m rocky. Be my partner, even if there’s no crime. If you’re with someone who’s a ride-or-die (within reason), you want there to be more good times than not-so-good ones. You want to laugh and talk more than you scream and argue. That’s where I think Olumide went with his latest video, “Peace of Mind.” A chopped and screwed visual of one of Olumide’s 2020 tracks, “Peace” finds the Maryland-born SOTB Favorite trying to figure out how to get that point across to his special someone. He details ups-and-downs with his person while also seeing the light among the grey. It’s one of those songs you play when you’re smoking with your dude/shawty and you just reconciled after a dumber-than-dumb fight. It’ll make you feel at peace while being someone else’s peace.

That’s the beauty of Olumide’s music. Even his more uptempo tracks are quite relaxing and very “I’ll vibe to this heavy”-friendly. I mean, that’s to be expected if you’ve followed his journey through SOTB (or another, possibly bigger, outlet). But the way he incorporates other forms of rap besides just “the DMV flow” shows that:

  1. The guy’s always thinking internationally with his music, branding, history and his overall essence.
  2. There is a lot of diversity among DMV-based/DMV-grown artists; you just have to know where to listen for it.

Now, I’m not here to argue who’s part of the DMV (Olumide would be, since he got started in PG County). I’m just here to provide dope music in all its forms. And that, my friends, is what Olumide gives us in spades in this short-but-sweet chopped-and-screwed track. Check out the visuals below and support dope music in all its forms.
