I’d never really been up on Kossisko until now. I usually have a set few playlists I’ll zone to and they didn’t reach there–until today. After the Prince meets Andre 3000 musical vibes of “Serotonin,” I’m ready to purchase (not stream) their music. Lucky for me, Kossisko has an album, SLAYERZ BALL, that dropped today.
Backtracking a bit to the song in question, I went in expecting Big 3 Stacks Energy because the live visuals we get in this video? They definitely remind me of “Hey Ya” and “Prototype,” at least in setup (not necessarily theme). Then, once the track started, my thoughts were confirmed. Paying homage to Outkast, Prince and other eccentric-but-brilliant musical visionaries, “Serotonin” is great at discussing how their human has brought them peace and joy with a bit of a rush to it all. Kossisko’s rapped portion speaks on this even stronger, while comparing their love to hard drugs (not to mention chemicals such as dopamine). I love the vocals, as they are smooth AF. What does this do, you ask? Well, it gives the entirety of Kossisko’s lyrcics a, for the lack of a better word, pantywetter feel. If that piques your interest–or makes you horny for music (I won’t judge)–check out the live version below and support dope music in all its forms.
