It’s a bit of “Black Girl Lost” for the Emoji Generation. That’s the vibe when I listen to Lee Mitty’s newest track, “Muses.” A bit more uptempo than what we usually hear from the Baltimore native, “Muses” is consciousness wrapped into a song someone could find themselves dancing to. Mitty’s discussion of our young people–more specifically, our young women’s (over)dependence on social media, selfies, instant gratification, and so on leads her song’s “protagonist” down a hollow path. Mitty’s witty crop job in the single art exemplifies this just as well as the bars do. Check the track out below to see why Mitty was named as one of SpeedontheBeat.com’s Ones to Watch earlier this year.
