Between 2015 and 2016, I released three albums, Baltimore Commercial Break, Unhinged, and my final SOTB project The Sorest Loser. I made mention of these projects belonging to a collection called “The Baltimore Trilogy,” as all three were deeply rooted in my time in Baltimore before, during, and after my mother’s death. These albums documented how my life changed over the course of that year-plus period between moving back to Baltimore and the weeks leading up to my baby boy’s first birthday. For the first time in forever (cue Kristen Bell singing), I’ve decided to conflate the three projects into one playlist that shows the evolution of Speed on the Beat as an artist and a person.
You may notice that some “fan favorite” tracks didn’t make the cut. I wanted to cut some of the fat from the compilation. If I included every track, you’d be looking at a three-to-four hour playlist of just Speed on the Beat and some themes would be retreaded. So, here, like my actual playlist order of Death of the King, is the “final” version of my last three albums in one place.
