“Summertime,” this ain’t. And that’s what makes Cassius Tae’s “Home For The Summer” work so well. It evenly discusses the positives and the negatives surrounding his return back to Chicago for the summer during his tenure at college. While there are joyous occasions, and there is fun to be had, there’s also turmoil. Sonically, I’m a huge fan of the beat switch halfway through; we go from an airy, summer-ready “No Scrubs” flip to something a bit darker. Overall, this is a dope track and serves as my introduction to Cassius (h/t The Demo Tape, by the way). So, check it out and support dope music in all its forms.
