Uhhh…this is fire. Do I really need to say why? I mean, Stalley has bars and a great ear for beats. This intelligent trunk music keeps your head nodding while asking you to rewind it to catch all the punchlines, flows and stories.
The follow up to Ohio, an album that I listed as one of my favorites of 2014, New Wave showcases a lot of growth for the Ohio native but also sees him stick with what he knows. There’s evolution to be had even if you stay close to your roots (look at K.R.I.T. on Cadillactica for an example of this). As mentioned, the production on here is top-notch and really allows Stalley to just flow and spit his soul on the beats. Held up by tracks like the title track, “Madden 96,” and “Soul Searching,” this is one that you can’t afford to miss, mainly because it’s just a thing of beauty and combines trunk rattlers with intellectual thought processes.
So, enough of me. Check it out below and support dope music in all its forms.
