Anytime I see something Life is Strange-related (although time has kept me from finishing Before The Storm), I get excited. So when I saw that Baltimore’s Kon Kyoshi (the featured artist on 7uca’s “womens.” trac) had a video with some Life is Strange references (along with references to the Justin Timberlake film In Time), I had to check it out. The concept of time being finite and wanting/needing more of it has been done to death. But, like Life is Strange, there’s something fresh about the concepts that Kon throws out here. It feels like a drug trip at times, but reads like an analysis on youth.
The song has a very chill (and chilling) vibe to it, which complements the video quite nicely. It’s reflective while still not being too self-indulgent and analyzes, in some ways, what it means to be young (and the “consequences” of growing “old”). It’s a pretty interesting track and the video is also fun to pick up on the references and great to look at. Check it out above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
