Is giving in to your demons worth it? Is drinking that one last shot of Henny worth the headache? Is getting with that one girl in your phone worth potentially losing it all? Is hitting the block when you know you could be doing something else, something more productive and less destructive, with your time worth the potential heartache? Ciscero and Black Fortune ask questions of this ilk on “Bite Down” and we’re not given a straight-up yes or no answer. Instead, Ciscero goes a Kendrick-like route about the possibilities, both good and bad, and lets the listeners decide if it’s worth it. However, the track is decidedly DMV in its execution, which means it’s unique in its approach.
Produced by S1 and Supah Mario, who turned out one of my favorite K.R.I.T. tracks of the past year, “Mixed Messages,” “Bite Down” is equal parts turn-up vibes and answer-seeking truthfulness. Check out the track below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
