New SOTBMusic: Tomcantsleep Drops Can’t Sleep

Tomcantsleep recently dropped his Can’t Sleep album and it’s dope. I could leave it at that, say “support dope music in all its forms,” and move on. But, that wouldn’t do the whole thing justice, now would it? The way the project is set up kind of feels like a serialized TV show with each song talking about a different way Tom manages to get through life (and how much he craves a release/some relief for his insomnia, which can be seen as a battle in of itself). I could be completely off-base with that analysis, but the great thing about music is that it’s mostly up for interpretation (until the artist tells you otherwise and then all bets are off).

I love that Tom also opted for boombap-like instrumentation for most of the project, which was produced by Nick Arcade. I’m always a sucker for jazzy instrumentation and boombap drums; that’s like the way to my musical heart. Check out the project below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
