New SOTBMusic: Staasia Daniels Throws Caution to the Wind in Whatever Happens, Happens

Staasia Daniels has been a favorite of mine for a minute. She blends a lot of energies and puts them back into the universe for the world to enjoy. I once described her as a mix between Aaliyah and Jhene Aiko, which still fits to this day. With that in mind, her latest EP, Whatever Happens, Happens shows a newfound maturity and sexiness to her tracks. And no, I’m not just talking about the cover art.

While she’s always been mature and sexy with her songs and songwriting, here things just hit differently (in a good way, of course). It could be that the first song on the project, “Drench,” is highly slow wind-friendly and definitely NSFW. It could be that she’s consistently perfecting her craft, experimenting with melodies and a this-is-R&B-where-people-actually-sang feel with her songs, even when she’s brash and talking her ish. It could be that she doesn’t know how to make a bad song.

Either way, Whatever Happens, Happens is worth a listen and may help you get some late-night come through–or it may just have you and your significant other just vibing to Daniels’ voice, which is as strong as ever, and her subject matter (which talks about love, like, lust, and how those things keep people either coming back into awkward situations or how to break the chains of just being used and then cast aside).

Check out the project below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
