SOTBMusic: Asante Farid Needs a Breather from Toxic Friendships

Asante Farid dropped two versions of a track recently. One is a more high-energy track (1.0), while the other is a bit more sparse with its production (2.0). Whichever version you choose to hear, you’re in for a confessional-esque track.

“Need a Breather,” like Benny Universe’s “Biking” from earlier today, speaks on growing up and growing apart. However, Farid makes these observations from afar, as he’s already moved on and beyond the person he once held close to him. He needed to move to save himself, which is something we all go through from time to time.

Do we continue to stay around toxic friendships or do we make the choice to move on from them and keep ourselves going and growing? Those choices are never easy, especially if you came up with the person. To achieve your own excellence, sometimes you need a breather from people who hold you down. Check out both versions of Farid’s “Need a Breather” below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
