SOTBMusic: Benny Universe Laments Growing Up on “Biking”

Growing up is a key component to music. We chronicle our lives through song. Sometimes, we grow up before our time. Chance the Rapper talked about this a bit on “Same Drugs,” a song where his Wendy went astray. While I’m not a huge Chance fan, that song hit me harder than many songs from Coloring Book. Maryland artist Benny Universe’s latest track, “Biking,” goes down this path as well. The two-plus minute track, featuring Syd Indigo, talks about an unseen someone who took the innocence out of life. It feels like that “person,” however, is more a personification of adulthood and the struggles we face as young adults. We lose time to do things we once enjoyed, sometimes because of the stresses of the “real world.” Check out the track below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
