D2X’s Debut is a Jazzy Look at His Life

D2X has appeared on SpeedontheBeat.com quite a few times over the years. His official debut album is finally upon us and it is amazing. The Color Blue is a beautifully put together project which highlights who D2X is as a man and as an artist, utilizing a jazz-rap-like feel throughout the project to heighten emotions while also just giving smooth jams to vibe with.

He approached the album as if first-timers and long-term fans were one in the same, which works in his favor. From the boisterous “Shine” to the introspective, story-as-a-painting “Picasso Blue/Thoughts From a Basquiat,” D2X give listeners 13 tracks of incredible music. What makes it so incredible is that D2X’s approach drops every listener in the thick of his mind and proceeds to tell them which elements are the most-important to focus on.

It’s a brave approach for a debut album, one that pays off well for D2X and this new album, inspired by life-changing events, and many emotions grasped along the way. The positivity exuded throughout this project is a breath of fresh air. Cliches aside, the album is just that damn good. Check it out above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
