When submitting this one, Madrid said that it’d remind me of something Mac and Isaiah Rashad would’ve put out. While I hear both legendary artists in “What’s the Move,” I’d add Curren$y in there as well. This is because of the chilled production on the track as well as the hook sounding like something you’d hear Spitta drop–especially 2010s Curren$y. Now, sonically, that’s not all the song has to offer. Instead, the duo also give us a yin and yang performance. That’s to say the song is one where Madrid provides somewhat calmed bars while Mike Charles gives listeners a bit more hyped of a lyrical performance. Both manage to create a song that’d feel right at home on an early-2010s project–but also feel right at home in 2021 as well. It’s borderline timeless in its creation and knows it. Check out the track below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
