I’ve ran into a lot of artists who take influence from the legendary Mac Miller. Hell, I’ve come to appreciate Mac’s influence on my own stuff that much more over the years. Bobby Part Time, a Philly artist, is another one who aims to kick incredibly dope stuff. On his latest, “Lose My Mind,” the rapper aims to shout out the dreamchasers–even if their dreams are with a 9-5. He states, at the end, that while life can “be a bitch,” it just depends on how you treat your life. I felt that, especially since there’ve been moments where I doubted if this artist/writer thing was what I was destined for.
Thankfully, I put those negative thoughts aside and kept pushing.
That’s another reason why I rock with this one, because it’s a smooth track but also one that gives praise to the folks who want to do more for themselves and others. The way he blends choir elements with a pop-R&B hook and true-to-life lyricism definitely reminds me a great deal of Mac. Check out the track below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
