FEELSOUL Spits His Soul on “For What It Is”

Often when I get “alternative hip-hop” submissions, some folks take that as an invitation to submit Juice WRLD-esque tracks. Now, there’s nothing wrong with Auto-Tuned rap. Hell, I actually love using Auto-Tune from time to time. However, when I think of alternative hip-hop, I think of non-mainstream flows and energies. On FEELSOUL’s “For What It Is,” we get a soulful sample to which SOUL raps his ass off about his life experiences and emotions. Produced by DJ Pain 1, the track is a masterclass in emotional hip-hop. From the muted flow to the sample, everything about this one hits and hits hard. It makes you think and reflect, but also bob your head along to the beat. All in all, I’ve got to say that this one has me excited.

“For What It Is” is slated to appear on SOUL’s The Pain of Blessings album, which is supposed to drop soon. If it’s anything like this song was, it’ll be a banger for sure. Check out the track below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
