Zeleke’s “Been Bout You” is a solid introduction to the 21-year-old Canadian in that it reminds me of a mix between 6LACK and The Weeknd. Lush soundscapes for heartache? Check. Music about resenting an experience but wanting to have more of it because you’re the only one who gets it? Yep. A teeny bit of “haunted strip club” vibes for good measure? You betcha.

Hopefully, that brief explanation doesn’t have you thinking I’m selling the song short, though.

That’s because “Been Bout You” is a perfect “I’m having trouble moving on from your love, so please take me back and fuck these other niggas” anthem, down to its lyrics and sound. He’s crooning about how much he’s been about the woman in question. I would love to hear a response version of this song with a woman singer, maybe even a remixed duet. That’s how this one hits for me. It’s solid, it’s artistic and it leaves me wanting more from Zeleke.
