Set in a Hell’s Kitchen-esque sendup, Samad Savage’s “Go To Work” features the Jersey-residing artist and his features Blaze, The Rebel and Macc McCray attacking the beat with a fiery doubletime flow. Usually, I pass on doubletime flows because let’s face it. They used to be rare, but now they’re everywhere. That said, few rappers can do them in a way that really differentiates themselves from the rest. For every Tech N9ne, even if I’m not the biggest fan, you’ve got thirty Migoses (Migi? Migoseses? Migos?).
However, the trio here?
You can tell they love rapping and are just having fun with their flows, so I gave them their just due. This is a hustler’s anthem while still being one of those songs that’ll grab your attention for more than the hustlenomics spoken about on this one. The visuals are also a treat to watch, as the Gordon Ramsey-centric spoof pokes fun at rappers who’ll try anything for a buck but also at the reality TV genre. All in all, it’s good stuff–even if Samad did almost kill “Gordon Bandsley” with his PB&J. Check out the track above and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
