Joshua Dairen Likens Love to an “SOS” in Latest Song

I was initially grabbed by Joshua Dairen’s “SOS” because of its production, which brings to mind folks like Maxwell and Frank Ocean. Then, his voice came over me like a gentle wave. To paraphrase a part of the song, his voice washed me onto shore to fully experience the song.

I like that this is a unique spin on love, as he’s saying it’s exactly like a shipwreck, in that it can be dangerous to fall in love. However, he turns around to say that the shipwreck of falling in love is a necessary one, one that’ll leave you wanting to stay on your remote island with your love. He mentioned that love eventually becomes a sort of “safe haven” for all those involved, when it’s done right. That’s the type of love we should all strive to gain in life. It may not come around all the time, but when it does? Grab on and don’t let go.
