Kissie Lee’s been on my radar especially over the last few months. Since her Queendom anthem “Crown,” the singer/songwriter’s consistently been dropping heat. Today, I had the chance to officially discuss her latest song, “Always Something.” A song about the F-Boys in the world (and the women who love them), “Always Something” finds Lee going back and forth between leaving this dude who’s put her through hell and staying. A choice that some of us have had to go (there are F-Girls, too, of course), it sometimes isn’t as cut and dry as the outside may make it appear.
The video (below) finds Lee going back and forth with herself about leaving. Again, leaving someone isn’t something that should just be taken lightly. It takes a lot of courage to leave something you’re comfortable with, even if it’s not overly healthy for you to indulge in it. Trust me, I’ve been there (no, not with who you expect…and not her, either; it was someone before the mother of my children). The video features a lot of pinks and blacks, possibly to contrast between the “should I stay or should I go” emotions Kissie’s discussing on this one. Check out the visuals below and the song above and do the thing: support dope music in all its forms. Also, if you’re in a toxic relationship, try to get out of it as soon as you can. Your sanity will thank you.
