I feel like I should be in a smoke-filled lounge, drinking bourbon as Meghan Maples delivers her soulful song and makes the song cry for her. That’s the mood I’m in after hearing Maples’ beautifully rich voice on “Someone.” Granted, it’s not a sad song, per se. But the song is just so soulfully done that you feel all the feels on it.
A live instrumental-sort of track, “Someone” features the singer/songwriter flexing her vocal range. This is all while also making the song feel everything she probably felt through writing it. She wants love and needs it, singing that she’s not feeling like waiting around because “her heart’s in a hurry” to find her love. She doesn’t want to take her time, even though she knows that good things (sometimes) come to those who wait.
The second single from the Bay Area native’s upcoming EP, “Someone” is one of those songs that’ll have you calling up your ex–or your current boothang–and letting them know how special they are to you. Music has the power to make you feel anything and, like I said, this one gets you in your feels pretty well. Check out the vocal performance of “Someone” below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
