I’ve rarely heard a line that elicits as many chuckles as screwfaces from me. On “Lonestar Riverpunk2,” LA-by-way-of-Jersey artist Nashon 9K and his feature Tristan Martin trade bars and vibes. By likening themselves to a 2022 version of XXXTENTACION and Joey Bada$$, we get lyrics for days, inventive schemes and inventive bars all wrapped up in a sonically-pleasing bow. The song appears on Nashon’s ADOMANiiA project, a 12-song LP which combines a lot. For example, we get dark melodies and raps for the I-need-bars folks out there. Additionally, we get that with a bit of punk-esque energies and Soundcloud rap vibes while still being deeply entrenched in what’s typically considered “hip-hop.”
