Lance Markeith Presents “Ethics”

Over a sample of The Ethics’ “Lost in a Lonely World,” Lance Markeith’s “Ethics” is a four-minute-long discussion. What’s discussed is simple. Markeith talks about what it means to stay focused when the world seems destined to bring you down. In a world where people always question motives and distrust even the most-authentic of people, “Ethics” is all about staying true to yourself, regardless the consequences. I respect the message given, but I also believe the song itself is a great one.

It definitely helps that the sample’s chop brings to mind Big KRIT’s “American Rap Star,” a song where KRIT also discusses staying true to oneself. I believe Markeith’s take on the topic would’ve been strong without the sample. That said, the sample helps bring the point out that much more.

The “Freelance Scholar” lets listeners in on his mission and we ultimately are better because of it. Check out the song below and remember to support dope music in all its forms.
