Markeith Black Wants to Evolve and Grow in a “Lucrative” Manner

Over a beat that brings to mind one of my favorite Elton John tracks (“Bennie and the Jets”), Markeith Black’s “Lucrative” features the singer/rapper embracing growth and maturation. That is especially true when it comes to doing those things in order to get past self-doubt and “longing for purpose amidst being [one’s] own worst enemy.” It’s also one of those tracks that tells you to get off your butt, stop just thinking about life and just do what needs to be done.

I love everything about this one, because it’s like a mix between Frank Ocean, Childish Gambino and Tyler. There’re a lot of harmonious moments and there are a lot of moments that feature the artist coming to terms with self. In other words, it’s something I’ll probably revisit when I myself get a bit hesitant to do the things that need to be done. Check it out below and support dope music in all its forms.
