Ridge Long Gets Introspective on “Better View”

A song that overflows with emotion and Long’s truth from start to finish, “Better View” is one of those tracks that’s reminiscent of a Drake song. Specifically, it reminds me of the Drake who’d leave everything out there at the end of a song/verse. That era of Drake was my favorite, as he’d leave people saying “damn, this guy’s going through it.” So, it’s no surprise that “Better View” got my attention for SOTB.

The influence from October’s Very Own runs deep here. That’s because the beat and Long’s cadence are very Drake-esque. That’s, for this song, not a bad thing because it allows him the chance to just coast over a heartfelt beat and let his soul out through music. This song appears on Long’s When To Say When project, which dropped last month. If you’re like me and you feel “Better View” and its truth–even if it’s just lines like “I was tryna social distance way before coronavirus”–check this one out. If you want more, give its parent project a spin or two and support dope music in all its forms.
