Mental health issues are issues even the strongest of us have to deal with from time to time. I sure as heck do, which is why I’m always on the lookout for good music that talks about those problems–and provides a bit of positivity to them as well. On “Lately,” Minnesota artist SXI and fellow artist Sample God discuss their struggles and how SXI still tries to “see the light in this world,” even when things get greyed out.
I’m here for this one, especially because it’s an incredible song held together by a pretty sweet chop of Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine.” The chop almost makes the song unrecognizable, but in a good way (possibly representative of an episode of sorts). If you need something to help you down from a manic high or boost you from a depressive low, I think this song may be one for you. Check it out below and support dope music in all its forms.
