Schama Noel has been an artist who’s been on my radar since his RapLike days. His latest freestyle(s) feature the now-Denver-residing artist tackling “Churchill Downs” (the Jack Harlow/Drake collabo) and the Dreamville posse cut “Stick.” If you’re expecting lines that rap like the artists in question, you won’t find that here as Noel strives to continuously shed his old persona and become known more for his own work(s) versus his wit and ability to emulate. I’m here for that, for sure. It also helps that the brother’s got bars for day–whether he’s emulating or not–so that makes it easier for me to say “SDMIAIF” (support dope music in all its forms) when talking about Schama. This serves as a precursor to his August 19 EP, which seems like it’ll have a healthy dose of lyricism, a bit of self-depreciating humor and a sound that isn’t exactly like everything else you’ve seen. Check out the visuals below.
