There’s something about Izzy Kershaw’s vocals that grabbed me on first listen. She’s got a hauntingly beautiful feel to her lyrics, a vibe that’s both calm and collected but also cautious. Add that into the video, which depicts an LGBTQ+ relationship and the things that come with relationships of any gender/orientation, and you’ve got a hit to me. Kershaw is a trans artist who sings her ass off in a Joji sort of way. In other words, the song’s sang in a bit of a matter-of-factly way. However, that laidbackness doesn’t dilute the message or the potency of her lyrics. Instead, to me, it amplifies them. The visuals are equally beautiful.
