Ricci Bamboo Presents “Papa”

Below, we’ve got the latest visuals from Canadian artist Ricci Bamboo. “Papa” is, in a nutshell, a powerful song that transcends genre and cultural upbringing to speak about the love a father should and usually does feel for his kid(s). Sonically, it’s hard to put a set genre on this one because it goes from R&B to soul to afrobeat to humanist elevation to trunk-rattling downsouth hip-hop. In other words, you get a lot to digest in the minute-plus this one runs. There’s a lot to discuss and talk through, from the pro-fatherhood and pro-Blackness themes to the fact that there’s a bit of interpretive dance in the visuals as well. It’s a beautiful track, plain and simple–especially if you’re a father who’s there doing the damn thing for his kids. Check it out below and support dope music in all its forms.
