While a bit on the mainstream R&B side, Jillantii’s “Regret It” grabbed me with its jazzy R&B sort of vibe. Plus, it’s got lines like “only a fake nigga say that he a real nigga.” I’m here for that sort of swagger. Autotuned or not, the vocals are solid and the songwriting is great, as it reminds me of a mix between contemporary R&B, hip-hop and more bluesy vibes to achieve a song that speaks on Jillantii’s plight but also what he wants out of the future. This is definitely one you need in your playlists, more because it blends so many sounds and styles together and it doesn’t sound crazy. Check out “Regret It” and support dope music in all its forms. This, for me, is a great introduction to his A Method to the Madness project, which is also now available on various DSPs.
